Auriga Milky Way

This is a photo of the Milky Way in Auriga. The photo was taken on 21 October 2000 from Randolph, VT, a dark sky site (limiting visual magnitude = 6 the night this picture was taken). The image was generated from stacked 10 minute exposures using a Canon 135mm F2.8 lens, film was Kodak Royal Gold 400. Final image was made from stacking two CD image scans and processing with PhotoShop. A number of objects are visible in this image, including open clusters M36, M37 (at lower left) and M38 as well as emission nebulae IC 405 and IC 410. The bright star towards the upper left is Beta Auriga. North is towards the lower left hand corner of this image.
