How to do Greek Letters in HTML


This page may be of use if you have the need to create Greek alphabet characters in HTML documents. Greek letters are very often used in Astronomy, hence the reason for this page.

Note: To do upper case Greek letters, just substitute the corresponding upper case "regular" letter in the HTML code area (example: to do upper case alpha, use the HTML code <FONT FACE="Symbol">A</FONT>.

Of course, you may alter the appearance of the characters (make them bold, larger, smaller, etc.) with the appropriate HTML tags.

NOTE: I have learned that not all browsers display Greek characters despite the HTML code. WebTV units do not appear to recognze the Greek characters. If you do not see Greek characters in the second column of the table below, your browser does not support such characters (I would have thought that this was a pretty "standard" thing, but I guessed wrong).
